I.A.D.A.

The Internal Arts Dragon Association is an affiliation of schools/teachers/teachers-in-training who train and teach the same Tai Chi Chuan system, the Snake-Style- System of Yang Sau Chung / Ip Tai Tak, with a wide range of additional DaoYin/Chi Kung systems to maximize health, flexibility, internal strength and to benefit the martial skill gained in Tai Chi Chuan.  All the affiliated schools follow and integrate the basic IADA guidelines for training and teaching Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong and aim to uphold the highest standards possible to give the best, open and clear teachings a student can get.

Why it is called “Internal Arts”?
In a nutshell – the chinese martial arts (CMA) are roughly divided into external and internal styles. External train more in the area of physical strength, muscle and bones where as the internal styles train more on relaxation, tendons an sinew. Both work with the chinese concept of Chi, but in differently applied ways – so, we are the relaxed ones :)

… and why “Dragon Association”?
The dragon in the Far East stands for strength and wisdom, long life and happiness. It “floats through the clouds like a snake” and uses its claws to “act in and influence the world” – not primarily for movement. This principle of an active and strong spine, a strong back to carry us through the day but staying loose and comfortable at the same time and also having relaxed but powerful arms and legs is the basic theme in our Tai Chi Chuan and the Chi Kung systems.
